This is an exceptionally exciting green field opportunity in Irvine, CA. The ideal individual has 5+ years of experience in data science/business intelligence/applied statistics exceptional analytical skills strong technical skills as well as the ability to interact with and influence senior leadership.

Role

* Work with the business line (IT marketing product) to understand business problems translate them into data science projects and appropriately prioritize and execute them.
* The team will utilize sophisticated data analysis techniques to derive meaningful insights that the business can clearly act on to drive business results.
* Look for key opportunities and take a proactive approach to analyses; initiate proactive projects to uncover key insights.
* Provide key input to the technical team on data requirements.
* Educate and evangelize data driven approaches across the organization.

Requirements

* Self-Starter with an extraordinary ability to execute multiple projects under tight deadlines that drive key business results.
* Advanced proficiency in statistical analysis quantitative analytics forecasting/predictive analytics multivariate testing and optimization algorithms.
* Ability to understand business problems from a high level direct the team to tackle strategic solutions using advanced analytics and data insights.
* Strong domain knowledge in the latest tools and techniques in data science.
* Substantial experience in analyzing online user behavior to generate insights about user experience business opportunities and product strategies.
* Ability to partner and collaborate and communicate well with executive leadership (both technical and non-technical).
* Passionate about the Internet emerging web technologies and community building with a demonstrated track record of visionary execution.
* Advanced data accessing skills (e.g. SQL) and manipulating data (Excel Python etc.); ideally experience in programming scripts to extract data.
* Advanced experience in at least one major statistical tool (e.g. SAS SPSS R).
* Keen understanding of the most recent trends around consumer web usage and direct hands-on experience with social networking.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to interact and understand technical subjects/emerging technologies and their relevance to the marketplace.
* Masters or Doctorate degree in a quantitative field (e.g. mathematics computer science physics engineering econometrics etc.) from a top tier University; must have some academic and theoretical experience in Statistics.
* Bonus points for experience and/or passion in: Applied micro-economics/game theory/auction theory Web Analytics (in particular Omniture) Mobile Analytics Real Estate Mashing up external data (e.g. location census etc.) with internal data Managing employees directly No SQL Technologies (e.g. Hadoop)
