Headquartered in Seattle, Washington, Wireless Advocates is a third-party provider of wireless products and services both online and in approximately 600 retail locations nationwide. Together with Fortune 100 channel partners and wireless carriers, our knowledgeable teams of on-site wireless professionals deliver high-value products and services, helping consumers connect and communicate every day. Wireless Advocates operates retail kiosks and online sales activities for our retail partners: Costco Wholesale, Army & Air Force Exchange Services (AAFES), Marine Corps Exchange (MCX), and Navy Exchange (NEX).

MISSION & SCOPE: The Senior Network Engineer develops and maintains the design and integrity of Wireless Advocates' and Car Toys' nationwide retail network; including customer-facing, hosted, and cloud environments. This role architects, plans, designs, integrates, and provides operational support of all network technologies. As a key member of the Infrastructure Team, the Senior Network Engineer works independently and as part of a team to develop project and infrastructure roadmaps; plan and implement project timelines; establish test plans; recommend and implement new technologies using a best of bread approach; and works with other discipline Senior Engineers or similar roles to define integrated solutions, considering overall costs, quality, maintainability and services. Additional responsibilities include direct work with vendors, operational users, and IT personnel in a cross team capacity, and identifying and documenting network policies, standards, and best practices. Determination, flexibility, and creativity are required in order to succeed in this role.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Provide technical services and support for the following areas:
* Network WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, and security
* Internal systems, cloud and network infrastructure
* Microsoft related technologies: Windows Server, Exchange, SQL, SharePoint
* Remote access solution support: VPN, Terminal Services, and Citrix
* Remote monitoring and management of system alerts and notifications


* implement network solutions
* Provide Tier 3 support and be an integral member of complex problem resolution
* Perform network assessments and contribute to security audits
* Implement monitoring, redundant architectures and other approaches for early detection of problems and high-resiliency services, prioritized and driven by the business needs
* Implement and control network security
* Coordinate special projects as assigned
* Provide customer focus and communication: keeping them informed of incident progress, notifying them of impending changes or agreed upon outages
* Participate as an active member of the team and contribute to the team's overall success
* Demonstrate flexibility in duties and responsibilities in order to achieve common goals

Qualifications

REQUIRED EXPERTISE:Minimum:

* Switching (Capacity Planning & VLAN's), datacenter switching technologies, multi-chassis aggregation and link aggregation
* Routing (OSPF, BGP), best practices for availability and performance. Experience with Juniper MX routers preferred
* WAN Technology (MPLS, VPLS, VPN)
* Voice Technologies (POTS, VoIP, SIP Trunking)
* Firewall Technology: SonicWALL, Palo Alto, Cisco
* Knowledge and experience with IPsec, encryption protocols, and best practices with site to site VPNs. Engagement with industry direction in SD-WAN a plus
* IPv4 and IPv6 numbering schemes, aggregation and allocation. Experience with deploying a dual stack IPv4/IPv6 environment a plus
* Internet architectures including multi-homing with ISPs, traffic engineering through manipulation of BGP attributes and best practice in peering
* Proficiency with network analysis tools. Must be able to correlate and analyze network packets and understand application performance and incidents
* Understanding of security best practices, forensic investigation and defense in depth
* Ability to diagnose complex network problems and find the root cause
* Demonstrated creation and implementation of 'best-practice' standards and departmental policies and procedures
* Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline
* 5+ years of extensive technical engagement in large scale enterprise or service provider IP networks
* Minimum 5 years of experience working with network infrastructure or equivalent combination of training and experience
* Expert or professional level technical certifications such as CCIE/CCNP or JNCIE/JNCIP highly desirable
* Effective cross-group collaboration
* Demonstrated ability to proactively and reactively respond to, analyze, and resolve critical network and systems impacts
* Demonstrated ability to make good decisions based on analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgement
