Responsibilities
Raytheon is seeking a skilled Field Engineer who has experience installing hardware into rack enclosures as well as maintaining and modifying them as needed. Must have experience working with cable runs of different types and installing same to include cable termination and installation. Former FAA field experience and technical skills are a must.
The network field engineer able to install, diagnose and troubleshoot wireless, security, switching, phone and other various network-related issues. Specializations include voice transmission, data communications, Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), facsimile, cable-to-modem communication, RF (including satellite) communication capabilities, microwave links, and analog modems. Considerable knowledge of managing the remote sites installation, configuring, operating, testing, and troubleshooting, this will include but not limited to last mile termination devices, and CPE.
Ability to adhere to security and safety standards and applicable communications policies and procedures. Ability to anticipate, effectively diagnose, isolate, and expediently resolve problems relative to telecommunications and information systems. Ability to perform site surveys for equipment/system installations. Ability to explain personnel issues and technical procedures and processes, and results of site surveys clearly and accurately to both technical and non-technical audiences. Provide troubleshooting assistance for carrier last mile systems, and customer premises equipment.
Minimum Desired Experience: 15+ years previous FAA experience within the FAA Technical Operations organization; service experience within the past 18 months is required. Working knowledge of existing customer regulations. Knowledge of customer equipment with unique experience in Telecommunications and Information Systems Installation, Operation and Maintenance. Specific operational expertise working in an Air Route Traffic Control Center (ARTCC), preferably Cleveland, New York, Boston, or Leesburg. 25% travel required.
Required Skills: Experience with the below, but are not limited to: Installing newly acquired hardware into rack enclosures; Completing cable runs (electrical, Ethernet, fiber, ground, serial); Running, terminating and connecting CAT5 / Fiber infrastructure cables
Top Skills Required: Knowledge and hands on experience of various physical layer medium such as EIA-232, VG-6, VG-3, V.35, digital data service interface, EIA/TIA-449/530A, EIA - 530, ISDN PRI/BRI, Fractional T1/T3, T1/T3, Point to point and point to multi-point asymmetric T1, Wireless (WiMAX, 3G, 4G). This position should be able to work independently and as part of a team responsible for installing, configuring, troubleshooting, maintaining and optimizing all network hardware and communication links.
