Network Administrators are skilled IT professionals responsible for the day-to-day management of a company or organization’s network. They organize and install the networking hardware needed for local area networks (LANs) or more advanced communication systems. Other possible duties include updating security permissions, improving network security and analyzing network models.
Network Administrators work in different industries in a variety of settings, including finance, education and information technology. Depending on the size of the company, they may work alone or alongside other IT specialists like network architects and database administrators. With more companies relying on cloud computing and mobile networks, the Bureau of Labor Statistics projects growth in job employment opportunities for Network Administrators.
