Data Engineers primarily prepare data for operational or analytical uses. Typical duties include building data pipelines that collect data from different sources, integrating, consolidating and cleaning the collected data and structuring the data for use in analytic applications. Commonly, the data is handed over to a data scientist for further use. Most employers ask candidates to have a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or mathematics. Some may also ask for certifications such as the IBM Certified Data Engineer or Google’s Certified Professional.
Denver was named the #1 Best Place for Business and Careers by Forbes and it’s easy to see why. The large energy sector encompasses everything from oil and gas with companies like Halliburton to sustainable research being done at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. Aerospace and technology jobs are plentiful with companies like Raytheon, Lockheed-Martin and Ball Aerospace all calling Denver home. There are plenty of ways to make sure you don’t get burned out with all work and no play. Denver is an active city with outdoor sports and recreation such as skiing in the winter, rock climbing in the summer, sports events all year round with major teams in baseball, football, basketball and hockey. The beautiful outdoor Red Rocks Amphitheater hosts concerts and events throughout the year but is always open for yoga, stairclimbing or simply taking in some fresh air.
