Computer Vision Engineers are tasked with creating programs that automate jobs performed by computers and robots that humans would normally do. This position requires a highly detail-oriented individual that has a wide skill set that is both technical and creative. Computer Vision Engineers work closely with robotics and control systems to solve a variety of product development challenges. These positions almost always require at least a four-year degree in computer science if not a graduate degree.
Some of the tasks that a Computer Vision Engineer will be expected to do are developing and testing vision algorithms for control robots, evaluating real-time controls and other hardware devices, optimizing analytics and implementing creative solutions for vision and control problems. A Computer Vision Engineer must also be able to assist in installation and running of product demonstrations as well as debug code with no additional support. Fluency in industry-standard languages such as C++, OpenCV and PCL is also a must.
