    The C4Q Story

Established in 2011, Coalition for Queens is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt nonprofit that aims to create a tech community that is reflective of our society, with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. We are a small but growing team, dedicated to growing the tech community in the borough we call home. We have many exciting projects — from events to education and advocacy — and we’re always looking for new volunteers and team members!

    The C4Q Mission

C4Q is transforming the tech industry by empowering underserved, low-income, and underrepresented communities with the skills, networks, and opportunity to enter the industry. We believe that creating a more inclusive tech community with a diversity of backgrounds, cultures, and experiences will strengthen the industry and fuel the growth of local Queens and NYC tech companies. Despite the incredible promise of the tech sector as a vehicle to the middle class, significant barriers to entry create a lack of access to these growing opportunities for the communities we target.

We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to pursue a career in tech, and we work to:
    - Increase awareness and understanding of opportunities in the tech industry for low-income communities and non-traditional populations
    - Make our tech community more ethnic and gender balanced
    - Increase talent from public universities, community colleges, and non-college graduates

Join our team and help us build the most inclusive tech community!!

    Access Code

Access Code is an innovative tech education program that aims to strengthen, diversify, and expand the NYC tech workforce by providing high-quality courses to adults who traditionally lack access. Each cohort reflects the diversity of Queens, and in the upcoming cycle we are expanding the program to serve the 65% of New Yorkers who don't have a college degree and those that also earn less than $32,000 a year. Program graduates are equipped with the technical skills and entrepreneurial training to gain jobs as entry-level mobile developers and start their careers in tech.

Help C4Q create an inclusive tech community by leading instruction, teaching a workshop, or becoming a teaching assistant. Currently C4Q is looking to hire fantastic Android and iOS developers interested in teaching the next generation of mobile developers! Access Code, C4Q's technical training program, equips talented adults from underserved and underrepresented backgrounds with the computer programming skills and entrepreneurial training to launch careers in the tech industry. We are building new pathways to tech for diverse and low-income communities, and in particular empowering the 65% of New Yorkers that do not have college degrees.

This intensive 10-month program in mobile app and web development prepares participants with no prior coding experience for entry-level developer jobs at the hundreds of innovative startups and tech companies (such as Google and Facebook) that are looking to hire the next generation of talent. These positions are in high demand with well-paid salaries averaging $85,619 across the industry — the first Access Code 1.0 program helped increase graduate average income from $26,000 to $73,000.
