Solutions Engineers typically work in small teams in order to influence the direction of product design for a company. This position is in high demand across the country, and it is needed in many different industries as well. Solutions Engineers most often will assess and support customer issues throughout the development cycle of a product, and as such, strong analytical skills are paramount to effectively identify problem areas.
Solutions Engineers also need to have excellent communication and documentation skills as they will be expected to interact with a variety of people inside and outside the company. As such, this is a very people-oriented position, especially when it comes to ensuring that when customer expectations are not met, escalations can be avoided as they will often be the first point of contact. A four-year degree in computer science is usually the minimum requirement in terms of education, and one must also have a good working knowledge of Internet-based technologies and scripting languages.
