Network Operation Center (NOC) Engineers provide engineering support services for IT technical teams and help to resolve network connectivity issues. They deal with circuit outages, routing black holes, DDoS attacks and network failures. NOC Engineers can configure hardware for security and optimal performance. They will maintain and monitor the network along with related software to ensure stability. These specialists are able to respond, categorize and identify problems that may arise. They can manage upgrades, integrations and improvements. NOC Engineers know how to install racks, KVMs, cables and more. They will communicate with the help desk of a company, as well as track and close trouble tickets. These specialists are experienced with doing system repairs and will keep an inventory of replacement parts. They usually report to the supervisor or operations manager of their department. NOC Engineers have excellent interpersonal and multi-tasking skills. They may also hold a degree in systems engineering, network administration or computer science, as well as certifications.
