Front End Engineers are highly sought after by many companies in a variety of industries across the United States. This rewarding career focuses on programming the visible and interactive features of a website that users see, such as text boxes, navigation buttons, games, animations and forms. They will often work with the back-end engineers, who process the data behind the scenes. Projects will start off by Front End Engineers analyzing the needs of a target audience and then helping to develop a specific design alongside other staff.
Front End Engineers need to be very familiar with the latest coding languages and techniques, as well as browser technologies. Strong artistic skills are also required, as they must be able to view their creations from a user's point of view and then understand how likely that person is to find it appealing. Constant testing and updating is required throughout the design process. Typically, a four-year college degree is needed for employment.
