AR/VR Engineers are tasked with the development and maintainance of programs that are centered around augmented reality. This high-paying and rewarding career uses large-scale environments, an array of visual feedback and different headmounted displays to provide users with a unique, digital experience. AR/VR Engineers need to be very hands-on when it comes to system programming, sensory integration and development of all visual components. They also need to have excellent communication and documentation skills in order to work well with the entire development team.
Strong debugging and coding skills are needed by AR/VR Engineers, as well as the ability to gather and interpret data to spot problem areas. For most companies, ARM and Linux experience is a huge plus, as well as being able to develop image processing algorithms. When it comes to education requirements, a four-year degree in computer science is the minimum. Many companies, however, will require a graduate level degree as well.
