Site Reliability Engineers develop and maintain computer programs and network systems for a company. From the inception of these programs and networks to ensuring that they function as needed for users, these engineers are there every step of the way to track and correct issues. SREs write code for these systems, create storage systems and build the networks used to access storage systems regularly. They also implement tests to see if the systems, applications and software serve their functions and continuously monitor each component. SREs are likely to stay in-demand as new technologies emerge and need to be introduced into existing systems. Site Reliability Engineer professionals often have a background in computer science, exhibit hands-on experience using a variety of software to perform their daily duties and must work well as a member of a team in this highly-collaborative role.
