Site Reliability Engineers are in a career that focuses on combining software and systems engineering to build and maintain large-scale, fault-tolerant systems. They ensure that services that are both internal and external are reliable and have the minimum amount of downtime possible. This position requires at least a four-year degree in computer science or related technical field that uses coding, such as mathematics or physics. Experience in one or more programming languages such as C, C++, Java, Python and Ruby is also highly desirable.
Site Reliability Engineers should also have both a creative and analytical mind in order to identify and tackle various issues that come up. In addition to strong coding and debugging skills, because these people work in a large team, excellent communication and documentation skills are also a must.
