Hardware Engineers are those who play a critical role in the designing, researching, developing and testing of computer hardware and completed systems such as processors, motherboards, memory, routers, graphics cards and other peripherals. Because this career has such a detail oriented aspect to it and is very technical, virtually every company will require at least a four year degree in computer engineering. Overall, this position is in high demand across the country and there are many industries that need them.
Computer Hardware Engineers have a range of responsibilities. Typically, in addition to designing new computer hardware and creating the blueprints for them, they'll be required to test the completed models thoroughly, analyze test results and modify as needed, update existing equipment to work with new software and drivers and oversee the manufacturing process for the hardware once it is ready to go to market.
