The job of a QA Test Automation Engineer is to use specialized software to study the results of both actual and predicted outcomes regarding the execution of tests. The main approaches to QA test automation includes API driven testing and graphical user interface testing. Continuous testing may also be utilized to asses various system requirements. Other types of testing tools that a QA Test Automation Engineer may use includes hybrid testing, code-driven testing, keyword-driven testing and behavior-driven development. Positions in this industry may include a quality assurance automation engineer, storage test automation engineer, UI test automation engineer and a systems analyst. Daily tasks may include designing test plans, reviewing execution logs, transforming workflow diagrams and testing database queries. A relevant degree and certifications may be required, as well as prior experience with test automation tools and various web applications. The ideal candidate should also be able to work well with team members, be familiar with the QA lifecycle and be able to think critically regarding complex problems.
