Product Designers are highly skilled technical workers who help to define the experience and interface of a product as well as the brand and marketing strategy for the product. Product Designers work in the role of design leadership. They must be able to approach the design process holistically and unify it across varying levels to deliver a seamless product. They also must oversee the vision of a product from a high level to a low execution level.
An individual Product Designer must possess components of various design roles, including UX design, graphic design, animation design, user research, data analysis, prototyping and business strategy. Product Designers need excellent communication skills because they work in teams and collaborate with other designers. They must also be able to share their vision with people outside of design roles.
Austin is a big player in the tech industry. It has had so much success that it’s been dubbed "Silicon Hills." It’s a tech hot spot for big names and innovative startups. Each year, the city releases the iconic Silicon Hills map to help maximize the visibility of various brands throughout the tech industry. It features over 70 companies, including some of the big names like eBay, PayPal, At&T, Apple, HP, Samsung, Dell, Facebook, Intel, Cisco and Oracle.
Not only does it cost much less to live in Austin than Silicon Valley, the city has many other advantages as well. There are no state taxes, there’s a vast pool of local talent, startup communities are growing every year, and the city’s Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to helping tech startups thrive in Austin.
